Why 5th Wheelers?

For a lot RV'ers 5th wheelers are the obvious choice. They provide very stable towing, with a convoy length 8-10ft shorter than a caravan of the same length. The point of pivot is near the rear axle making sway and fish-tailing a thing of the past. Compared to buses and motorhomes they cost considerably less for the same volume interior. You also have a seperate tow vehicle for when you get to your destination, and the passengers are much safer in a ute with airbags, forward facing seats, and no trailer contents to fly forward in the event of a crash.

Not all 5th Wheelers are created equal

Coastal & Outback fifth wheelers have all the luxuries of their heavy American counterparts, without the excessive weight and bulk that require an expensive F-250 or Dodge Ram etc to tow with their high running costs. At Hodge RV we specialise in designing and manufacturing for Australian conditions, high strength and quality, light weight 5th wheelers designed to be towed by Rodeo, Nissan STX, BT50 etc which are economical and moderately priced. To achieve this lighter weight we don’t compromise by cutting corners on structural and insulation components, instead we have developed construction techniques, and used more expensive materials to produce a quality product that is not only lighter and more fuel efficient, but stronger as well. We are able to produce quality strong units with our unique aluminium chassis and extensive use of aluminium throughout the Coastal 5th wheelers which also gives peace of mind without the worry of rusting or rotting of wood. All our units are fitted with quality Australian appliances and components.
